Overview
Hongxin Butyl Waterproof Tape is a pressure-sensitive sealing tape manufactured from high-purity butyl rubber (isobutylene-isoprene copolymer). It forms a reliable, durable waterproof bond on contact — adhering effectively to metal, concrete, glass, wood, PVC, TPO, EPDM and most common construction substrates without flame, solvent or special equipment.
The tape remains flexible across a wide temperature range (-40°C to 110°C), conforming to irregular surfaces and maintaining its seal under thermal expansion, structural movement and long-term weathering.

Q: Which surface types does butyl tape bond to?
A: Butyl tape bonds effectively to a wide range of construction substrates, including steel, aluminum, copper, concrete, glass, wood, PVC, TPO, EPDM, SBS/APP modified bitumen membranes, polycarbonate, and many other common building materials. For optimal adhesion, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, and loose particles.
Q: What is the difference between butyl tape and bitumen tape?
A: Butyl tape is manufactured with butyl rubber adhesive, providing excellent flexibility, long-term adhesion, and reliable waterproof and airtight sealing. It requires no heat or flame during installation and performs well over a wide service temperature range.Bitumen tape is manufactured with modified bitumen and is commonly used in roofing and waterproofing applications where compatibility with bituminous materials is important. The choice between butyl and bitumen tape depends on the substrate, application requirements, and service conditions.
Q: Can it be applied in cold weather?
A: The recommended application temperature is 10°C–35°C. Application is possible down to -5°C (dry substrate required). Below 0°C, pre-warm both the tape rolls and the substrate to 15–25°C for at least a few hours before installation to restore flexibility and adhesion. Avoid application above 40°C or during direct sun exposure in summer. If the tape has been stored or transported in cold conditions, allow it to acclimatize at 15–25°C for 24 hours before use
